In an honest attempt to positively contribute to the lives of individuals and communities across the world, BDSwiss’ latest donations to the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and the “ARODAPHNOUSA” Palliative Care Centre aim to help support the organisations’ efforts in providing complete Palliative Care Services to cancer patients.
As the global COVID-19 pandemic continues to force world governments to impose strict lockdowns, non-profit organisations like the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society are facing urgent funding challenges with all their offline fundraising efforts being cancelled at a time when cancer patients’ expenses and needs for care not only continue to exist but are also on the rise. Speaking at a recent press conference, Anti-Cancer Society president Dr Adamos Adamou stated: “We faced unprecedented situations this year. The pandemic restrictions and social distancing measures forced us to cancel our annual Poreia Christodoulas and all related activities. This has had a negative impact on our funding efforts which are crucial to the delivering of the services we provide.”
Joining the acts of solidarity of hundreds of local businesses, BDSwiss supported the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society’s ‘Fight Against Cancer’ (#StiMaxi) campaign with a company donation presented to the “ARODAPHNOUSA” Palliative Care Centre while an additional donation to the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society was organised by the company – during the month of September – collecting the generous contributions of BDSwiss’ 200+ employees. The donations were presented to a Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society representative at the BDSwiss headquarters in Limassol on the 24th of September 2020.
Seeking to help drive forward positive change, BDSwiss remains committed to helping local and international communities around the world cope with the pandemic and vouches to continue supporting even more charities and initiatives in the future.
About the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and “ARODAPHNOUSA”
The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society (established in 1971) is a registered non-profit Organisation that cares for people with cancer providing them with complete Palliative Care Services in line with international standards. The Organisation’s aim is to support the patients’ families and caregivers, but also inform the broader public about cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and relief.
In 1976 the Society established the “ARODAPHNOUSA” Palliative Care Centre in an effort to support refugees and cancer patients, who were in desperate need of shelter and care following the Turkish invasion. In the 40 years of its history, Arodafnousa has evolved into a modern Center for Palliative Care.
